Sight Words For Pre-K thru 3rd Grade
63
When it comes to learning how to read, every parent wants their child(ren) to be on grade level..
Sight words, also known as Dolche Words, help to assist children with reading. These are words that the child should be able to identify just by sight. This grouping of words is broken down into grade levels to better help children learn typical words that they come in contact with most often as they start their schooling.
As a parent of children in the Pre-K thru 2nd Grade levels, I know how important these words are for a child's early growth.
TIP FOR PARENTS
- To better help children, get a pack of blank 3 x 5 cards and place a word on each. You can also put the definitions or paste pictures on the back to further help their learning.
- Daily learning improves a child's knowledge. Practice words during breakfast or during down time after school.
- Make a game out of the words. Point out words where ever you go. See how many words your child can identify.

Reading is a pleasure that every child from age pre-k to adulthood and beyond should be able to enjoy, as it opens up a world only in the realm of the written word.
